Braver by the Day

We are venturing out more.  It's getting easier too.  Yesterday we went to the doctor's office.  I wore her in the Babyhawk.  It went really well!!  She's already 10lbs9oz and 22in. Today we did the grocery store and the post office in the sling which was great!!

Tues night Chris felt adventurous and I really needed to get out of the house so we went to our favorite taqueria.  We've been going there for six years so Christian is tight with all the workers.  He was in proud-daddy mode and showing her off.  One lady felt the need to tell me that breast was best which I thought was really cute.  Way to advertise!  Everyone got a kick out of her chubby cheeks.  Here's Chris wearing her, watching the Mexico vs. USA game:

She loved the al pastor tacos.

About Parenting

I read two really awesome things last night while bouncing her for hours.  They both brought tears to my eyes.  So much truth!  Enjoy!

How we spend every day

Why, yes, UPS man...

...I am opening the front door in my robe at 1pm. Because I have an INFANT. Hold the judgement please.

For the past week or so, our darling little one has let us know that her ideal sleep schedule is between 3am and 11am. While we foolishly thought we could put her down when we went to bed at 10, she let us know in no uncertain terms that 10 pm is time for her to be walked, bounced and entertained. So we are trying to roll with that.

The weather has been cold and windy, not ideal for going out with her. But I'm getting a little sick of the apt. Yesterday I left her with Chris while I ran errands. I was gone maybe an hour, and I knew she was safe, but I did not like being away from her one bit. The whole time I imagined her hungry and crying and I felt super selfish for leaving. By the time I got home I was shaking with anxiety. She, of course, was asleep and happy as could be in daddy's arms. He, then, had to calm ME down. It's a process. I'll will get better at it.  I'm so in love with this little miracle. How could I not be?

Chio's first month!

Christian and I have pretty much just spent the past month congratulating each other on having good genes.  She's amazing.  We are shocked by how much she has grown in such a short time.  To celebrate, Chio and I walked to a cafe with our friend Jenna.  We had a light lunch and I breastfed in public for the first time.  It felt like a victory, like I can leave the house without fear.  Here are some pictures for your enjoyment:

Day 1: Little Peanut

1 Month: "Why is that woman constantly pointing that thing at me?"

Chillin in Inwood with Auntie Jenna

 Milestones this month by Chio:
-Birth: nailed it
-Gained a ton of weight
-Outgrew NB size clothes
-Got better at getting milk (so mommy doesn't hurt so much)
-Found my two hands and can now bring them to my mouth
-Rode in a taxi, bus, and subway
-Made a lot of people fall in love with me!

The New Sunday

We were very proud of ourselves yesterday.  We successfully ventured out with baby for a low-key family brunch.  Christian wore Chio in the Babyhawk, I carried the diaper bag, and we walked the 10 blocks in sunshine.  She loved being close to Daddy and slept most of the time.  We enjoyed coffee, frittata and a little fresh air.  We all wish Daddy didn't have to go to work, ever.

The rest of our Sunday included napping, watching a bad movie on TBS, lots of nursing and cuddling of course.  We love the way she fits into our lives.

 She's pretending this isn't happening.
