Chio meets Aunt Kandi

My first Mothers' Day

We woke up early since we are still on NY time. Chris helped his Dad clean up from the party while I snuggled with my little girl. We had a delicious brunch with carne asada tacos and chips and salsa from Christian's family's factory (my favorite). I had lots of text messages and phone calls wishing me a happy Mothers' Day which felt so good. We visited with family and friends all day. In the evening we had Dairy Queen which I love and miss. But the BEST part, of course, was spending the day getting lots of love from my favorite two people, without whom I would not be a Mother.

Weekend Round-up

Chio had a really big week or so!!  Haven't had the chance to update.  Here's what we've been up to:

Chio met my amazing coworkers Lindsay and Shira.  Baby's first trip to Brooklyn!  She nursed the entire 1hr train ride there.  We had some Fried Chicken and Sour Cherry Cobbler at the famous Pies n' Thighs.  Lots of cuddles and wishing Shira lots of love as she starts a new chapter of her life as a Homebirth Midwife (YA!) in CT.

We were visited by the lovely Heather Donaldson CNM.  This woman can handle anything!  Here she is saving my back by carrying Chio for me at the park.

A visit with Sabrina and her sweet twins Zoe and Conner who are about to turn 4.

Another sweet pair of twins: Willow and Simone joined us at the park.  Jenna lent a hand:)

Chio's not into having the sun in her eyes which is what started me sewing sun bonnets like the one she's wearing here.  I'm enjoying sewing again!

Monday we tried a new Mexican Restaurant in the hood.  Mixed reviews.

Tuesday we met Auntie Aicha at Indian Rd Cafe and had a walk around Inwood Park.  We also met with a local parents' group.  Lots of little one's Chio's age.  I didn't take any pictures though:(

On Wednesday Auntie Sharwon picked us up and we drove to Connecticut.  It was Chio's first time in a car since bringing her home from the hospital.  She tolerated it for the most part, but ended up screaming on the way home. Poor thing.  It broke my heart, but she recovered quickly.

In Connecticut we visited Auntie Danielle who is also on Maternity Leave after having her baby the lovely Luna Dill.  I know Chio and Luna will be great friends.

We took in the sun by the lake.

Thursday we visited the Cherry Blossoms in Central Park.  They were beautiful, but both mom and baby ended up sneezy:)  Stupid allergies.

Friday we had a reunion with the other moms and babies from our Childbirth Classes.  Zoe and Jeremy are amazing little ones with strong and smart mommies!

When we got home Chio surprised me by turning over (front to back) during tummy time. She did it twice more, but hasn't done it since.  Maybe it was accidental?

Saturday we stayed at home, played, sewed, nursed and napped.  Nice and mellow.

Sunday we went to Queens for Auntie Stephanie's Baby Shower.  It was a lovely, beautiful day for Chio's first party.  Chio got lots of loving from her Aunties.  Stephanie was glowing!

As you can tell our days are filled with lots of love, wonderful people, park visits, and too much eating out!!
